The Planetary Union, governed by Planetary Command (or the Galaxy Council), was the ruling body for all colonised worlds in the Galaxy. It includes Earth and humans, and many other worlds and races, but little is known of the union.
New Texas had recently come under the auspices of the union, although was still very much a frontier world. When Fort Kerium requested a Galactic Marshal they sent Marshal BraveStarr.
They sent the Cygnian ambassador to audit Mayor Derringer and Marshal BraveStarr, who was kidnapped by Tex Hex in an attempt to bribe the union. (The Taking of Thistledown 123)
